Our club

Endurance since 1993

Triathlon Club Säuliamt is one of the long-established clubs of the Swiss triathlon scene. What made us grow, though, was not podium places, but the fact that everyone is welcome to come along.

What we stand for

Why we exist

Triathlon stopped being a fringe sport long ago. With the popularity, however, came the pressure to perform – and with it something got lost: the sheer enjoyment of it.

In today's achievement-driven society we are under strain every day as it is. More and more amateur athletes are carrying exactly that pressure over into their hobby as well, exposing themselves to a load that does their health more harm than good.

At Triamt, then, the fun comes first. We bring together athletes of every ability. Everyone pursues their own goals and decides for themselves when training has to happen – and when it really does not.

The world already puts enough pressure on us. Here you are simply allowed to enjoy your sport.

History

From niche hobby to sport for everyone

When Triamt was founded in 1993, multisport was something for oddities who found a single sport not quite enough. The race calendar was thin to match. Essentially there were two distances: the long distance over 3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running – and the Olympic distance over 1.5/40/10 km, introduced in 1989.

Many more formats have come along since: sprint and middle distance, plus variants such as XTerra off-road or the aquathlon. Only the duathlon was more popular in the nineties than it is today. By now there are around 300 races in Switzerland – from Ironman Switzerland to the community triathlon in Schaffhausen.

Triamt has ridden all of these waves and stayed true to itself along the way: a club run by members for members, with no commercial ambitions.

The committee

Five people who keep the show on the road

Triamt lives off the commitment of its members – above all off the committee, who organise the sessions, plan events and make sure there is something for everyone. All of them work voluntarily.

Partners

Support without a logo on the jersey

Our members have decided that the club kit carries the Triamt emblem and nothing else. Our partners have accepted that decision and go on supporting the club regardless. We are grateful to them for that.

Trial session

Just come along.

The first session is free and commits you to nothing. Drop us a line to say when you would like to come – then we know to expect you and you will not be standing at the poolside on your own.
