Last weekend, on 5 July 2020, the first club fun triathlon at the Türlersee took place. 13 Triamt members lined up to take on themselves and their own ambition. This year the sheer enjoyment of triathlon was clearly the priority. Even so, a healthy dose of ambition was not something the Triamt crowd could quite resist.
Olympic & middle distance
So that everyone had an idea of what they might aim for, head of sport Oli Fischer had set out a few courses. That took the agony of choice away and you could try either the Olympic distance or the half-Ironman course. A useful kit test for some, a fitness check for others.
And the weather could not have been better chosen for a personal test like this. Mild temperatures already at the start and bearable temperatures for the run around the Türlersee at midday and in the afternoon. Apart from a handful of technical hitches, it all went smoothly for most people, and where it did not, at least you knew what still needed work.
A successful Corona alternative
The Triamt triathlon at the Türlersee came about because of the current coronavirus situation. Official measures meant that all events were postponed into August or cancelled altogether. On top of that, most of our members are spending the summer in Switzerland, which is what opened up the chance for the first Triamt triathlon at the Türlersee. Whether and when this club alternative will be revived is still unclear.
