Zurich Urban Run

Here is a tip about an event put on by our club member Thomas Baumgartner. Thomas spent this spring guiding cycling trips with Actreme in Mallorca and Istria. The Zürich Urban Run is a good chance to put your current form to use at a rather different kind of event. Who fancies taking part as a small Triamt group? If you are interested, get in touch with Thomas.

About the event

Sightseeing while you jog. The best opportunity to explore Switzerland's largest city on foot. The Zürich Urban Run takes us through 10 of the city's districts. Through woods and fields as well as the lanes and streets of the old town. Past the most important sights and historic places. Culture and history are just as present everywhere as the architecture of past centuries. And we discover something new in the up-and-coming areas of Zürich Nord. After the Zürich Urban Run you will see the city with different eyes.

Route details: Start 8.00 a.m. Bahnhof Zürich-Affoltern, ETH, Waid, Escher-Wyss-Platz, Platzspitz, Central, Limmatquai, Bellevue, Niederdorf, Universität Zürich, Zürichberg, Dolder, Zoo, Schwamendingen, Leutschenbach, Andreaspark Oerlikon,

Do not let the distance or the duration put you off. There are public transport stops at many points along the way, so you can finish the run early once you have reached your goal for the day. You can also join later at Central (route minus 7km) or at Bellevue (route minus 9km). Please state which route you would like when you register:

1. Option Zürich Urban Run Original 26km
2. Option Zürich Urban from Central 19km
3. Option Zürich Urban from Bellevue 17km

Recommended running kit: clothing to suit the weather. Running shoes you can comfortably spend a good three hours in. Taking a running vest, a light backpack or a waist pack is a good idea. Depending on the weather, a light rain jacket or a spare shirt can be useful. A bit of cash also makes sense. Everyone brings their own food and drink for the run.

Start and finish are at Bahnhof Zürich-Affoltern. Very easy to reach by public transport on the S6 line or buses 32, 37, 61 and 62. By car you are at the meeting point in no time from the Regensdorf motorway exit. Parking is available in the Migros car park opposite (free for up to 2 hours, CHF 1.- for the third hour, then CHF 5.-/hour).

Cost per participant CHF 25.- including a small souvenir and a snack at the finish.
